Enclosed
you will find the reporting requirements for the 2000 Institutional
Effectiveness submissions that will be due in our office no later than August
1, 2000. The first file that is
included contains brief explanations for the components required within the
summary reports and the second file contains the data tables that should be
completed by your office. Together with
the data that has been collected for performance funding purposes (Section
59-103-30), this information will satisfy reporting
requirements for Section 59-101-350.
As
we did for the January 2000 Report, “A Closer Look at Public Higher Education
in
We are
in the process of setting up a convenient time for readers to review your 1999
summary reports and we apologize for the delay in this process. We hope to complete this review quickly and
return general comments to you at least one month before your 2000 report is
due.
To
assist the two-year campuses in their assessment efforts in the area of
transfer (Achievement of Students Transferring from Two to Four Year
Institutions), data on these students has been requested from each four-year
institution and will be submitted to Bob Mellon (technical institutions) and
David Hunter (USC Regional campuses) by June 1, 2000. This should allow the two-year institutions
appropriate time to include this information in their full report due August 1,
2000.
Please
be sure to attach the following transmittal form when you submit your
information on August 1, 2000. In
trying to make the submission process easier, we are asking that you submit
your completed summary report and data tables electronically to: Renee Connolly, at rconnoll@che400.state.sc.us. If you have trouble transmitting this
information electronically, please mail a hard copy of all the report
components to the Commission. If we are
not able to pull up your report & data tables, we may ask you for a hard
copy. All the information has been
written in Word and should transmit fairly easily, so we ask that you use Word
when sending your summary reports. If
you have to use another software application, please mail a hard copy of your
summary report. Also, please check the
Commission’s website at www.che.sc.gov/academicaffairs/IE/IEPage.htm
to confirm that the Commission has recorded the correct components that you
will be reporting on in your summary report.
If there is a discrepancy, please contact Renee Connolly at
803-737-2285, otherwise we will expect that those sections listed (including
Majors or Concentrations) will be the only components reported on during
2000. As noted in the first file, “IE
Requirements” the Commission will be reviewing the reporting schedule from 2001
forward to determine a consistent reporting pattern for the institutions and
each of the components required.
Thank you for your continued support in the state’s planning process and your consistent efforts in putting together excellent reports that detail your institutions’ efforts in planning and assessment, accountability, and performance. We have posted a copy of the 2000 institutional effectiveness guidelines and tables to the website at www.che.sc.gov/academicaffairs/IE/IEPage.htm and will continue to post updates and revisions there, as needed.
